          Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

            In a small bowl, prepare the streusel topping by mixing the oats, brown sugar, chopped nuts (if using), and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Add a tablespoon of melted butter and mix until crumbly.

              Divide the muffin batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.

                Sprinkle the streusel topping generously over each muffin.

                  Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

                    Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
