In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the diced onion and minced garlic until the beef is fully cooked and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and allow to simmer for about 5 minutes.
Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly as the base layer.
Layer the frozen tater tots on top of the beef mixture, covering it completely.
Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or chives for a pop of color. Consider serving alongside a crisp salad for a complete meal.
